A sub-genre of pop rock, Jangle Pop is a sound that emphasizes jangly guitars and 1960s style pop melodies. The term originated when in 1965 The Byrds covered Bob Dylan’s “Mr. Tambourine Man” and became one of the genre’s representative works. Other prominent artists that are connected to it are R.E.M, The Bangles and The Smiths.
