Every year we at blocSonic love to participate in Netlabel Day to big-up netlabel culture. Though the number of active netlabels that exist today have dwindled compared to when we launched in 2007, there are still a significant number of us representing. Props go out to everyone who plays a part in keeping the culture alive! Thanks especially goes out M.I.S.T. Records for spearheading Netlabel Day and keeping it going!

Now read on to learn about everything we’ve released today…

Ergo Phizmiz arrives at blocSonic with collection of long lost recordings!

Today we’re thrilled to welcome UK writer, composer & collagist Ergo Phizmiz to blocSonic! You may remember him from “netBloc Volume 28 (Why You Get A Record Deal?)”, which included a “Cycle Fragment” from his grand 2010 15 hour dream fable “The Faust Cycle”.

Right now we present to you “Thank Fuck For People Like Us”, a fantastic collection of recordings that up until this year, had been thought to be lost to disc rot. However, with an abundance of thanks to Vicki Bennett, collagist for People Like Us, you get to enjoy these marvelous avante-garde recordings. Be sure to check out the PDF booklet for the complete backstory about each recording.

Ergo, sir… thank you for allowing blocSonic to release this fantastic collection of sonic gems. Welcome to the blocSonic fam!

Of course, thanks once again to you for downloading & listening. We always strive to deliver the music you’ll love. Please spread the word about blocSonic, if you enjoy what we do. Remember… everything we release is cool to share! Always keep the music moving… share it… blog it… podcast it! If you’re in radio… support independent music and broadcast it!

A month ago, the world finally got to hear CM & Tha Silent Partner’s LONG-AWAITED “bloc Sonics 2”. Yup… if you’re not sleeping, you’re probably still bumping it on the regular… believe that! We also released the Special Edition CD containing the TSPMENTALS so that fans can show support. Well, today for Netlabel Day, we’ve finally got “bloc Sonics 2 (The TSPMENTALS)” for you cheapskates who won’t buy the CD. We kid, truly. However, if you do want to show support to your favorite artists, there’s NO BETTER way than to buy physical copies.

So… download… bump… let those lovely beats seep in… then check out “blocSonics” and “bloc Sonics 2” (if you haven’t yet)… let those lovely beats & rhymes seep in… rinse & repeat until you’re a fan… then show support… cop those CDs… word up.

Once again Tha Silent Partner introduces a new release format!

For those of you who have been listening to blocSonic for a while, you may remember that back in 2012, it was Tha Silent Partner who introduced the world to the concept of the Six Onna 7 fortyFive sub-series. A format containing six brief gems clocking in at around 12 minutes altogether… or just under 6 minutes per “side”.

Well, TSP has done it again! Today we present to you “Riddims & Stems”, the first release from the new blocVersions format, which we hope more of our artists will utilize to also give back. The format is simple… a selection of tracks and stems from each of those tracks that can be used for whatever, as long as attribution is included with the resulting creation. You can just download the release, or the stems, or both. Be sure to check out the PDF for TSP’s backstory about the format and his inaugural release. What better way to celebrate Netlabel Day than with a brand-spanking new blocSonic release format that is designed to give back to the Creative Commons community! Enjoy.

Hey TSP… “Riddims & Stems” is such a terrific idea! Thanks for once again innovating with a new format. I don’t doubt other bloc fam will continue the legacy.

Since the 2nd annual Netlabel Day in 2016, there’s been one constant… Donnie Ozone has held it down for the special day celebrating netlabel culture. In fact, back in 2018, he was the only artist to represent for blocSonic. Well, as can be expected, he’s delivered another dope hip-hop joint for heads to enjoy! “Rock To This” is one of those songs that perfectly capture that golden era vibe. So download and enjoy some new classic beats & rhymes.

The second CM & Tha Silent Partner release for Netlabel Day!

A month ago, the world finally got to hear CM & Tha Silent Partner’s LONG-AWAITED “bloc Sonics 2”. Included on that EP was the dope “Tip Jar” which followed an intro. For real heads… you know who you are… CM & TSP help celebrate Netlabel Day by releasing that great song intro-less! Yup, giving the people what they need. Enjoy.

Thanks again gents… it’s great to get fans this slammin’ joint minus the album intro. It definitely deserves the shine!
